REVIEW: Loneliness

This is one of the joyful hidden gems. You can play it for free on Kongregate (which, by the way, if you don’t know about Kongreate – now you do).

You cannot get simpler than this game. It reminds me of a 1944 film experiment, “Heider and Simmel”.

The purpose of this film was to explore how human beings attach meaning. In the film we only see triangles and dots moving around. However, ask anybody after having watched the film, and they will be able to tell you what the story is about.

It’s a fascinating phenomena, and this has been expertly been brought to the gaming society through “Loneliness”.

We all seem to, not only interpret the story differently, but also behave differently. Some people choose to speed through it, ignoring other dots around it. Others will keep trying to interact with other dots until the end.

There is more meaning in this little game than in many triple A titles that are coming out today.
